AIFantasyGuide launched in May 2026. We publish tested-ranked listicles, every tool in every ranking has been personally registered for, paid for, and run through a structured prompt suite by one of our team. The prompt we used and the response we got is embedded inside every tool entry. That's the work that separates a tested ranking from a self-promotional listicle.

How we test

For every ranking, one writer spends 2 to 3 days running ≥5 test prompts per tool. We vary character type (elf, demon, paladin, succubus, witch), scenario complexity (open-world, structured scene, combat, romance), and explicitness level. We screenshot the best output, select one representative prompt for embedding, and write the abbreviated AI response excerpt as the actual model output, never paraphrased.

How we score

Tools are ranked on a weighted composite score across five dimensions:

  • Response quality (35%), character consistency, writing depth, persona adherence
  • NSFW capability (25%), explicit content availability and output quality
  • Prompt following (20%), does the model follow complex, multi-part prompts?
  • Price / value (10%), free tier generosity, paid tier value
  • UX + mobile (10%), interface quality, speed, mobile app

Tools scoring below 7.0 do not appear in our rankings, we drop them and test an alternative.

Editorial standards

We use affiliate links and disclose this in the footer of every page and above every tool mention in body copy. We do not accept sponsorships in exchange for coverage. We do not rank a tool we wouldn't recommend to a friend without the commission. We never use AI summary tools to write the testing notes, that defeats the purpose.

Updates

Every ranking is re-tested and updated monthly. The "Updated" date in the meta row of every article reflects the most recent pass. When we drop a tool or add a new contender, we say so in the article's revision notes.
